Steelers pull out the victory in overtime

Week 1

Running back Rahard Mendenhall had the game winning touchdown in overtime with a 50 yard run. Overall he had a great day rushing for 120 yards on 22 carries. The offense is not explosive at all and everyone knows that it will probably be that way until Big Ben comes back from his suspension. The defense manhandled the high flying Falcons offense all day. Quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 252 yards and one interception while running back Michael Turner rushed for 42 yards on 19 carries. Overall the Steelers gave up under 300 yards of total offense and sacked Ryan two times. It is quite impressive the way the Steelers have limited the Falcons with Dick Labeau's zone blitz 3-4 defense.

Tough Loss At Home To Baltimore ruins perfect record

Week 4

The Pittsburgh Steelers were one minute away from defeating the Baltimore Ravens before going into the bye week undefeated. Raven quarterback Joe Flacco showed poise when faced with the pressure and formations from the Steelers in throwing a touchdown strike to TJ Houshmanzadeh to take a 17-14 lead that would ultimately be the final score. The game went back and forth with Pittsburgh taking a 14-10 lead earlier in the fourth quarter. The Steelers stopped the Ravens inside the five-yard line on a fourth down in the red zone in an earlier possession but were up unable to muster any yards and failed to convert a single first down. The Steelers had to punt the ball away and the Ravens received good field position inside the 50-yard line with about one minute left. Flacco completed multiple passes and the final scoring strike went for 18 yards with 32 seconds left. The Steelers should feel good about themselves going into the bye week with a 3-1 record. Ben Roethlisberger will be coming back so the offense should be able to open up.
